The work (and journey) goes on

It’s not that I’ve been avoiding writing here (well, OK, maybe sometimes😉) but I’ve been pretty busy over the last several months. For instance, I’ve had several assignments from two clients, did some updates to this website, revised my resume and started to research essay writing as a possible new skill.

Then I’ve had some personal business to take care of and got my two shots of COVID-19 vaccines that aren’t really vaccines. (At least that’s what I recall reading in the forms I had to review and sign to get my shots. It was something about the emergency use authorization. Legalese, I guess.🤔 I think everyone saw the same form.)

At any rate, I’ve kept busy. My spirits were boosted by the work from those two clients, one of which is under new management and seems open to increasing the amount of work I do for them. That’s always good news. The second has been a steady customer, although not in quantity. But I knew that going into our arrangement. And this one just agreed to slightly boost my rate, so that’s good news.

Finding my mojo again

I turned down my first new client the other day. It was mostly a disappointing act, although I have to say part of the reason was I wasn’t overly excited about what I would have been writing.

It was for an air freight publication in England, so there was also a big time difference when it came to communication. The subject matter was not overly exciting, but it would probably be interesting.

(I am getting some) Satisfaction

Mick and the boys might have a hard time finding fulfillment and maybe a little contentment, but I have to say this year still seems headed forward in a good direction.

Several freelance writing assignments have kept me busy over the last few months, some of them even kind of fell into my lap. After the last few years, it’s nice to finally have people recognize your abilities and ask you to work for them.

Not that I’m getting rich, but I’m making enough to keep me comfortably afloat for my current situation. Continue reading “(I am getting some) Satisfaction”

Lessons, lessons, more lessons

Whoever said life is a learning experience (or something like that) was dead on.

Over the last month or so, I’ve had to learn — and relearn — some lessons about how I approach writing, job searching and other demands on my time and effort. Like most people, I have some good results, others not so much. And like most, it’s the latter that teach me the most. Continue reading “Lessons, lessons, more lessons”

Woo hoo! I’m a dot-com, too!

What I mean is the name of my freelance writing and editing efforts is now what some have told me is official for an online business entity.

Notice anything different? Me neither, but it feels kind of good. If you haven’t figured it out yet, McKibbin’s Scribblin’s is now a website instead of a blog. Yep, I finally ponied up (a very affordable amount, actually) to take the WordPress name off my URL. Now it’s just mckibbinsscribblins.com.

No need to change your bookmarks, unless you want to. The old address gets you here. I’ve also recently added several pages to hopefully explain Continue reading “Woo hoo! I’m a dot-com, too!”
